Oleksandr Usyk's potential retirement and his upcoming bout against Daniel Dubois could influence punters to bet on Usyk to win, as he aims for a third undisputed title. Given Usyk's history and experience in the ring, betting on him might yield favorable returns, especially with speculation of a high-stakes match against Tyson Fury looming on the horizon.
Oleksandr Usyk is on the verge of retirement as he approaches his penultimate bout. Approaching 40 and the end of his career, Usyk has reiterated that he will have one final fight after his upcoming clash with Daniel Dubois on July 19.
Usyk became the undisputed champion in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions Getty “[I am still boxing] because Jesus gives me the opportunity, and I take this,” Usyk told DAZN. “Now my goal is to become a three-time undisputed. “Listen, I love boxing, training hard. I guess it’s my last two fights, with Dubois and next, I don’t know who. “I’ll talk to you after this fight, it’s my life.”
Usky beat Dubois via knockout in the ninth round of their first meeting in Poland. The bout was not without controversy, with the Briton being accused of a low blow shot that saw Usyk take a break for almost four minutes in the fifth round. The debate remains heated between their retrospective camps, but the score will be settled in just over a week. The rematch will see Dubois on the hunt for revenge against the 38-year-old.
While Usyk’s aim is to become an undisputed champion for the third time by unifying his WBC, WBA and WBO belts with Dubois’ IBF strap. ‘The Cat’s’ final bow is yet to be confirmed, although rumours have been sparked that Tyson Fury could be his last dance partner.
The last time the pair met, Usyk extended his perfect professional record Getty After Fury recently decided to come back to the sport, following his shock retirement announcement earlier this year. He took to Instagram to reveal his decision was spurred by his plans to fight Usyk in a trilogy bout next year.
In his first undisputed heavyweight bout against Fury, he left the ring the victor after a split decision win. When the unified titles were on the line in their December rematch Usyk sealed the 2-0 record over the ‘Gypsy King’, this time via unanimous decision. With Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, confirming this week that there is an agreement in place for the pair to meet for a third time, Usyk-Fury 3 could well be the Ukrainian’s retirement bout.
