'This Could be Huge' - Arsenal Fans React as Romano Confirms New Transfer Talks

Arsenal's pursuit of Chelsea star Noni Madueke has sparked mixed reactions from fans, with many skeptical about his potential impact on the team. As discussions continue, punters might view this as a signal to bet against Arsenal's chances of immediate success if the signing materializes, given the concerns about Madueke's consistency and form.

Arsenal fans are gearing up for the confirmation of many new signings this summer, with Kepa Arrizabalaga being the first one through the door ahead of the imminent arrivals of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi and Brentford captain Christian Norgaard. But another link has cropped up this week, with the Gunners having held a 'new round of talks' to land Chelsea star Noni Madueke, with the player thought to potentially be open to the move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Although there is nothing advanced yet in terms of an approach from the Gunners, or direct negotiations, there have supposedly been contacts maintained between intermediaries - and fans have had their say on a potential deal.

Fans React to Arsenal Interest in Noni Madueke Transfers between the two clubs aren't uncommon; Kepa's signing is the purest example you can find, whilst David Luiz, Petr Cech, Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Olivier Giroud and Willian have all made the switch across London in the past - least not Ashley Cole and William Gallas in the 2000s.

But fans have made their opinions known, with one damning verdict about Mikel Arteta to start us off, as one Gunners supporter posted on X (formerly Twitter): "I won't even take Madueke for free. I don't know who did this to the Arsenal. That rookie coach called Arteta who wasn't really a good footballer during his time always buying below par Chelsea players. He must be working for Chelsea."

Another echoed the same thought, adding: "Nowhere near good enough," whilst a third wrote: "Arsenal please have mercy on our lives, this is not what we want. Give us Rodrygo, [Eberechi] Eze and Viktor Gyokeres and we are fine."

Some Gunners were a bit more complimentary of the England international after his couple of breakthrough seasons in west London. The main takeaway is that he would be backup to Bukayo Saka, although one fan said they'd prefer another target from the capital, writing: "Good backup to Saka, I'd rather Jarrod Bowen but Madueke was one of Chelsea's better players last season."

Meanwhile, another posted: "If he's coming predominantly as a Saka backup, get him in. But I hope he's good with the sitting on the bench for most of the time."

One fan would seemingly be over the moon if Madueke swapped blue for red, labelling it as a 'huge' signing and asking director Andrea Berta to swoop for the former Tottenham Hotspur academy star by replying to Romano's original tweet.

However, to end on an alternate note, one poster stated that he doesn't rate Madueke at all - urging Arsenal not to waste their time on the former PSV Eindhoven man. They wrote: "I honestly don’t rate Noni Madueke at all, Arsenal, please avoid this deal. He's too inconsistent and lacks end product, especially in high-pressure games."

"We need players who can elevate the squad, not ones still struggling for form at Chelsea. Let’s focus on more proven profiles if we’re serious about Eze, that’s already a step in the right direction. Let’s not waste time on sideways moves."
