With Liverpool's interest in Malick Fofana and uncertainty surrounding several attacking players, punters may consider betting on Liverpool's chances of signing the young winger, potentially enhancing their attack for the upcoming season.
Liverpool are keen on signing Lyon sensation Malick Fofana despite Marseille's interest in a deal, according to RMC Sport.
The Reds have had a busy summer transfer window already, with Arne Slot bringing in Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez before pre-season began to strengthen his Premier League-winning side. But the Anfield club are not done yet with their planned transfer business, and a new winger has emerged as a potential target.
Fofana, who has been described as a 'magnificent winger prospect', enjoyed a breakout campaign for Lyon in 2024/25 where he netted 11 goals and registered six assists in all competitions, including shining against Manchester United in the Europa League quarter-final. Those performances have seen him linked to some of Europe's biggest clubs, with Lyon's financial situation meaning that a sale during the current transfer window is highly likely.
Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest had already agreed a deal with Lyon for his transfer but couldn't agree terms with the player, which has opened the door for other clubs to try including fellow Ligue 1 outfit Marseille.
However, according to RMC Sport, a deal that would see Fofana switch teams within the same league is highly unlikely, and that is because Liverpool remain interested - as do Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The 20-year-old could make the switch to Anfield with question marks over the future of several Liverpool attackers heading into the new season. Luis Diaz has emerged as a target for Bayern too, with reports suggesting he has already agreed personal terms although an opening bid was rejected. Cody Gakpo is seen as an alternative to the Colombian by the German side, while Harvey Elliott is also expected to move on as he seeks more regular first-team football and Darwin Nunez is set to be sold.
Liverpool are still keen on signing Lyon star Malick Fofana despite new interest from Marseille.
