15 Best Quarterbacks in the NFL Right Now (Ranked)

"With the current landscape of quarterbacks showcasing a blend of athleticism and skill, punters might find betting on game outcomes influenced by performances of players like Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold, who have shown potential to excel."

Brock Purdy, taken with the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, has blossomed into quite the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. Mr. Irrelevant was thrown into the fire as a rookie, getting the starting job after Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo went down with injury. Purdy went 5-0 as a starter and led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game, where they fell to the Eagles.

The 25-year-old has since been a steady, reliable presence under center for Kyle Shanahan, putting together a 23-13 record in the regular season and 4-2 in the playoffs as San Francisco's starting quarterback. Purdy and the Niners had a down year in 2024, but the organization's decision to reward the Iowa State product with a five-year, $265 million contract extension shows they believe in their franchise player.

Brock Purdy 2024 NFL Stats Games Played 15 Passing Attempts 455 Completions 300 (65.9%) Passing Yards 3,864 Passing Touchdowns 20 Interceptions 12 Passer Rating 96.1 Total QBR 67.9 (7th) Rushing Yards 323 Rushing Touchdowns 5

C.J. Stroud burst onto the NFL scene as a rookie, setting a number of league records and winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Stroud threw for over 4,000 yards and tossed 23 touchdowns in his pro season, giving up just five interceptions in 15 starts. His second season was less impressive, due in large part to serious injuries to star receivers Tank Dell and Nico Collins.

Despite the challenging season, Stroud led Houston to the playoffs for a second consecutive season, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.

C.J. Stroud 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Pass Attempts / Completions 532 / 336 (63.2%) Passing Yards 3,727 yards Passing Touchdowns 20 TDs Interceptions 12 INTs Passer Rating 87.0 Total QBR 49.8 Yards per Attempt 7.0

Sam Darnold is fresh off the best season of his seven-year NFL career, guiding the Minnesota Vikings to a 14-3 record. The 28-year-old threw for over 4,300 yards and 35 touchdowns, and finished top-five in passer rating (102.5) in a career-high 17 starts.

Darnold smashed his previous career highs in yards (3,024), touchdowns (19) and completion percentage (61.9%). His breakout campaign earned him a three-year, $100.5 million contract from the Seattle Seahawks in free agency.

Sam Darnold 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Passing Attempts 545 Completions 361 (66.2%) Passing Yards 4,319 Passing Touchdowns 35 Interceptions 12 Passer Rating 102.5 Total QBR 60.4 Yards per Attempt 7.9

The 2024 NFL season was the perfect representation of the Kyler Murray experience. Murray put up some of the best numbers of his career, throwing for over 3,800 yards (11th in NFL) and a career-best 68.8% passing completion percentage.

He threw 21 touchdowns, rushed in the end zone five times and ran the ball for a total of 572 yards, showing off his elite dual-threat ability. The issue with Murray has always been his game management, however. The 28-year-old threw 11 interceptions on the season, including five in the last three games of the season as the Arizona Cardinals' season fell apart.

Murray has all the talent and athleticism to be a star in the NFL, but he'll have to match that with better decision-making and more consistency if he wants to be great.

Kyler Murray 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Passing Attempts / Completions 541 / 372 (68.8%) Passing Yards 3,851 yards Passing Touchdowns 21 TDs Interceptions 11 INTs Passer Rating 93.5 QBR 66.5 Rushing Attempts / Yards / TDs 78 rushes for 572 yards, 5 TDs

The way Baker Mayfield has turned his career around is inspiring, and he's turned into one of the easiest players to root for in the NFL.

After being selected first overall in the 2018 draft by Cleveland, Mayfield struggled to live up to the hype with a cursed Browns team. After bouncing around the league for a bit, the 30-year-old landed the starter's job in Tampa Bay in 2023 and absolutely took off with it, making back-to-back Pro Bowls.

Mayfield led Tampa to a 10-7 record in 2024, and became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards, toss over 40 touchdowns, and average over 70 percent completion percentage in a single season.

Baker Mayfield 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Completions / Attempts 407 / 570 (71.4%) Passing Yards 4,500 Passing Touchdowns 41 Interceptions 16 Passer Rating 106.8 Net Yards per Attempt 7.9 Rushing Attempts / Yards / TDs 60 / 378 / 3

Jalen Hurts winning Super Bowl LIX is enough to have him in the top-10 of this list. Hurts led the Philadelphia Eagles to their second Super Bowl title this past season, winning Super Bowl MVP with a 221-yard and two-touchdown performance.

The 26-year-old had a strong regular season, throwing 18 touchdowns and just five interceptions. His 2,903 yards in the air were the lowest since his rookie season, due in large part to running back Saquon Barkley being the Eagles' top offensive weapon in 2024.

Hurts rushed for a league-leading 14 rushing touchdowns, making it his fourth consecutive season with double-digits in that category.

Jalen Hurts 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 15 / 15 Passing Attempts / Completions 361 / 248 (68.7%) Passing Yards 2,903 Passing Touchdowns 18 Interceptions 5 Passer Rating 103.7 Total QBR 65.6 Rushing Yards 630 Rushing Touchdowns 14

Jordan Love is one of the most naturally gifted passers in today's NFL, and is continuing the legacy of excellence at the quarterback position for the Green Bay Packers.

Love put together another solid year in his second season as a starter, throwing 25 touchdowns (t-10th in NFL) while putting up a 69.3 Quarterback Rating (5th in NFL).

Injury issues and a lack of real offensive weapons hurt Love and the Packers in 2024, but the talent and efficiency are undeniable in the 26-year-old.

Jordan Love 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 15 / 15 Passing Attempts / Completions 425 / 268 (63.1%) Passing Yards 3,389 yards Passing Touchdowns 25 TDs Interceptions 11 INTs Passer Rating 96.7 QBR 69.3 Yards Per Attempt 8.0

Despite being in his late thirties, Matthew Stafford remains one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL on his day.

The Los Angeles Rams superstar put together another strong season in 2024, throwing for over 3,700 yards, 20 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, despite missing star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua for large parts of the campaign.

The 37-year-old rattled off five-straight wins for the Rams late in the season to get LA into the playoffs, playing through four cracked ribs.

Matthew Stafford 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 16 / 16 Pass Attempts / Completions 517 / 340 (65.8%) Passing Yards 3,762 yards Touchdowns / Interceptions 20 TDs / 8 INTs Passer Rating 93.7 Yards Per Attempt 7.3

Justin Herbert is known for his remarkable poise and wisdom beyond his 27 years, and this past season was a perfect example of that. Herbert threw 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions — a TD/INT ratio of 7.67 that ranks eighth all-time among quarterbacks that threw at least 15 touchdown passes.

The Eugene, Oregon native's stats were not as impressive as those he put up in his first few years, but it's his efficiency that has stood out of late. Herbert put up a career-high 101.7 passer rating in 2024, managing a passer rating above 90 in his first 10 games of the season, and at some point threw 357 passes without an interception (5th most all-time).

Justin Herbert 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Completions / Attempts 332 / 504 (65.9%) Passing Yards 3,870 yards Passing Touchdowns 23 TDs Interceptions 3 INTs Passer Rating 101.7 Total QBR 64.8 Yards Per Attempt 7.7

The Washington Commanders hit the jackpot with Jayden Daniels.

Daniels is fresh off one of the best rookie seasons by a quarterback in recent history, putting up a 100.1 passer rating and 70.6 QBR as he ran away with the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

The LSU product was also incredibly efficient in his first year, throwing 25 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. Daniels also emerged as the next great dual-threat quarterback, rushing for an NFL-record 891 yards and six touchdowns.

Jayden Daniels 2024 NFL Stats Games Played / Started 17 / 17 Pass Attempts / Completions 480 / 331 (69.0%) Passing Yards 3,568 yards Passing Touchdowns 25 TDs Interceptions 9 INTs Passer Rating 100.1 Total QBR 70.6 (4th-best) Yards / Attempt 7.4 Rushing Yards 891 yards Rushing Touchdowns 6 rush TDs

NFL fans are spoiled with the amount of talent currently in the league at the quarterback position.
