Lothar Matthäus believes VfB Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade could be a crucial asset for Bayern Munich in the post-Harry Kane era, suggesting a potential transfer fee of €80-100 million. Matthäus recommends Woltemade stay another year at Stuttgart for development, but if he transfers now, it could shift Bayern's dynamics. Punters might consider betting on a high-stakes transfer that enhances Bayern’s attacking options, influencing their odds in future matches.
Former Bayern Munich and German national team legend Lothar Matthäus has some ideas about what VfB Stuttgart star Nick Woltemade should do in this transfer situation involving Bayern Munich.
“I’ve been saying it for a long time: Woltemade is a player for FC Bayern. And I think it’s right that Bayern are trying to get him. Although I think a €60m transfer fee is too low.
If €80-100m had been mentioned, it wouldn’t have surprised me. It might be good for Bayern to think ahead and get Woltemade as a false 9 for the post-Harry Kane era,” Matthäus told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“If I were his management, I wouldn’t be negotiating a transfer for the new season, but rather for the season after. Woltemade has had a dream year at VfB. Everything happened very quickly. With the Pokal win, with the national team in the Nations League, and now with the success with the U21s. At VfB, he will also get plenty of playing time next season and can develop further in calm for another year.
“If Bayern signs Woltemade now, then he has to play. That changes the dynamics of their game. Woltemade isn’t a true number 9, nor a true number 10. In his own way, he’s a Thomas Müller imitation. He also plays behind the striker for the U-21s, just as he would operate behind Kane at Bayern.
But then Musiala would have to move to the left and start his runs from there – which is no problem for him.”
Woltemade’s versatility and skill-set could really open up the possibilities for how the Bavarians could use him. Striker? Attacking midfield? Winger? There could be more flexibility to this move than first thought.
